The band was originally formed as the Argoed Concert Band in 1997. Adopted by Mold Town Council in 1999 we became Mold Town Band. Then in 2002 we changed our name to Mold Town Concert Band.
We currently consist of approximately 40 very friendly musicians who play a variety of brass and wind instruments. We are open to all ages from school students through to retired members. Ages 11 to 81 at present!
There is no entry audition but the minimum recommended level of proficiency, in order to enjoy performing is Grade 3 to 4 of ABRSM Examinations. While the band is keen to attract student members we realise that students will often be committed to school and county ensembles and therefore we also wish to attract the older players who, having learnt instruments as youngsters, now have the potential to make a valued contribution to a Concert Band.
Repertoire ranges from serene to swing - concert marches, contemporary, popular, classical, musical medleys, jazz and big band arrangements. Whilst occasionally tackling more challenging pieces, the emphasis is on performing a wide range of music whilst having fun!
